The Summer 2022 Program is currently full and in progress. Please email info@offshorebigisland.com if you would like to meet individually or enroll in our Fall 2022 Fast-Track Program.

Who is this for:

Ideal for incoming high school seniors who are driven and ambitious students that plan to apply to college or university in the fall.

Description:

A six-week program for students to get a handle on the college application process. This program will walk students through the application process week by week. Students will meet for two hours a week in a small group setting with 3-5 students to learn about the process. We will be holding two group sessions and work with a maximum of 10 total students this summer. Students will then have optional hours after each session to work with one-another, speak with the Offshore team, and get a head start on their work with other students.

By the end of this course students will have a detailed action plan heading into their senior year feeling prepared to start submitting college applications. Along with having a physical application, students will learn valuable time management skills, self-awareness, and have a space to collaborate with their peers.

During this program, students will receive guidance on finding a mentor, collecting letters of recommendation, planning senior year classes (AP Tests/college credits), and overall guiding structure for the process through a series of guided instructions and individual take-home assignments. Students will collaborate with Offshore and other students to develop a list of activities for their resume, thinking strategically about career options. Examples of assignments will include taking virtual tours and speaking to past alumni of schools they are interested in.

Students will leave this program feeling organized and prepared to finalize and submit applications in the fall. A follow-up meeting will be held once a month with each student until November 1st, and then once in December to finalize all applications. Then a meeting in May to help them make a final school decision.

A week by week break down would be as follows:

Week 1: Overview of the application process and what to expect

Week 2: Creating a vision board for your future

Week 3 : Curate the college list

Week 4: Preparing the application: Gathering materials, essay topics, and list of extracurricular activities

Week 5: Navigating the financial aid puzzle

Week 6: Preparing a final application timeline and gearing up for senior fall semester

This program is free for all participants.
